Support Groups

The Family Support Groups that we offer allow families to come together in a relaxed atmosphere, talk, listen and share their own memories. It can feel as though your own families and friends no longer want to hear you talk about the person who died. You can feel as though you are burdening them, as though because time has passed you should 'be ok now'. Being with other families who have some insight into what it is like, can offer reassurance to you and give you permission to be honest about how you are feeling.

It is important to recognize the warmth, humour and sense of calm in the group. It can be a place where you feel 'normal' again, because you are free to be honest or if you prefer, you can chose to be quiet and reflective. The only expectations that we have are that you hold confidentiality and that you be yourself.
