Thank you for the letter, which I received today. I hope you enjoyed looking at our photos of our Florida holiday. Although I wrote and thanked you then for our fantastic holiday I must thank you even more as Charlotte is now a golden angel so our last family holiday was so very important it left us with happy memories that we will treasure for ever.
Please forgive me if I have already told you but Charlotte became an angel last year on 24th February she was such a wonderful daughter who we all miss so very much. During her last weeks she was so strong in a very soft and gentle was, she cared about everybody’s feelings and spent so much time reassuring them that she would be alright and so would they as she would be looking after them. Charlotte sorted out all her special things and gave them away to her friends and family she was pleased to be able to do this as she was when she brought each of our family presents that she had engraved with special messages.
As I look back at Charlottes last weeks I feel so lucky that we had that very special time with her, time was a gift to us, we were able to tell her how much she was loved. Charlotte had two books that everybody wrote messages in about the special times they had shared, she laughed so much at some of the notes. Charlotte was able to stay at home with us and the family she loved until the very end. Richard, Laura and I culled up with Charlotte as I told her about the place she was going to, it looked so wonderful Charlotte fell asleep dreaming of lovely things. A perfect end for a perfect girl.
Charlotte came home to us the day after her special day (Charlotte referred to her funeral as this) and now she has a beautiful garden filled with spring flowers and the angel she brought me for Christmas just where she wanted it under the tree.
You are all very special people as well. You who work hard to make this sometimes wicked world a better place, you give families like mine laughter excitement hope and cause of the most important memories of very special times thank you xxxx
Memories are the part of my Charlotte that I can hold on to they will never leave.
Our special memories of Charlotte
We sat together and recalled our special thoughts of Charlotte each colour represented the coloured sand we put in a tall glass vase, Mum Dad Laura Liam.
White was for our Charlotte pure as snow, with white soft angel wings. It was for the white sand at Clearwater America where the sun shined, the shells were so big and the water so warm, we has a happy day
Yellow reminded us of her lovely car and how happy she was when she passed her test. We were all so proud of her, it was wonderful to see her buzzing around. Yellow was for her beautiful paintings they all had sunshine in them, just like the sun that shined on her as she sat in her chair during her last days.
Green made us think of Centre parcs with its tall strong trees. We had such fun riding bikes that we found swimming in the hot pool at night and watching Charlotte play badminton. Green also reminded us of the hulk ride in America Charlotte was so frightened the first time she went on it but she has to have another ride so she could enjoy it, she wanted to overcome her fear and she did!
Pink, Charlotte loves pink clothes she also chose pink roses freesias germini for her special day with pale pink balloons to take with her
Blue is for the sky, we had two memorable holidays in America we flew through the clouds, no grey clouds up high where Charlotte is now.
Blue is for how we feel sometimes but we will remember our special times, our memories will always be with us as our Charlotte is.
God Bless xxx
Lots of Love from the Read family Patricia, Richard, Laura, Liam and Phil xxxxxxx
